DUBAI: On March 14 Ambassador of Japan to Lebanon, Takeshi Okubo, attended the completion ceremony of a project that ensured the supply of Japan-made solar panels to 122 public schools in Lebanon.

At the ceremony at Islah Second Mixed Public School in Saida, Ambassador Okubo gave a speech reaffirming Japan’s support for enhanced education in Lebanon and emphasized the importance of using renewable energy to reduce fuel dependency.

The solar panel project, which was funded using a grant from Japan, aims to reduce electricity consumption and spending on fuel, while also ensuring education is readily available for students.

Ambassador Okuba also assured that Japan would support renewable initiatives in Lebanon that help tackle energy challenges.

The ceremony was also attended by various notable figures, including Imad Al-Achkar, the Director General of Education, Abbas Al-Halabi, the Minister of Education and Higher Education as well as senior officials from the Ministry of Education and Higher Education.
