TOKYO: US House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi is planning to hold talks with Japanese Prime Minister KISHIDA Fumio in Japan on Friday, Japanese government sources said Wednesday.

Pelosi, who is touring the Indo-Pacific region, is set to arrive in Japan on Thursday night. So far, Pelosi has visited Singapore, Malaysia and Taiwan. She is also set to visit South Korea.

Her visit to Taiwan has drawn a fierce backlash from China.

In the envisaged meeting, Kishida and Pelosi are expected to exchange views on the Taiwan situation and the Japan-US ties.
