TOKYO: Japan’s Foreign Minister HAYASHI Yoshimasa, and Javad Owji, Minister of Petroleum of Iran agreed on cementing the historically friendly relationship between the two countries and continuing with the legacy of diplomacy of former Prime Minister ABE Shinzo.

During their 30 minutes meeting on Sept. 28, Owji, in Japan for the state funeral of the former prime minister Abe, expressed his condolences and respect for Abe “who had worked hard to enrich the bilateral relationship and considered Iran important to Japan.”

Foreign Minister Hayashi expressed his hopes that all relevant countries can comply with the JCPOA (Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action) as soon as possible. On this issue, Minister Owji “explained Iran’s stance,” the foreign ministry said without elaborating.
