Japan PM: ‘I feel deep grief’ after death of Oman’s Sultan Qaboos

Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe issued a statement Saturday expressing his deep sorrow at the death of Omani Sultan Qaboos bin Said on Friday

The statement said the death of the sultan, a leader with wisdom and insight, is a great loss to not only the people of Oman but also the international community.

He made great contributions to peace and stability in the Middle East, earning deep respect from other countries, Abe also said.

The Japanese leader is set to visit Oman on Tuesday during his five-day Middle East trip from Saturday.
