Matsuyama, Ehime Pref: The body of a cargo ship captain was found Monday on his vessel, which sank last week after colliding with another cargo ship in the Kurushima Strait off the coast of Imabari, Ehime Prefecture, western Japan.

The body of Sosuke Kitai, 63, from Shima, Mie Prefecture, was found on the bridge of his vessel, the Seiryu, as Japan Coast Guard rescuers searched for two missing crew members from the ship, the JCG said.

The search operation continues for the other missing crew member, Yuki Watanabe, 24, from Fukutsu, Fukuoka Prefecture.

Three of the five crew members of the Seiryu, based in Toba, Mie, were rescued after the collision with the Koei Maru, based in Imabari, Thursday night.

The JCG has been interviewing crew members from both ships on suspicion of professional negligence endangering traffic.
