TOKYO:Demonstrators held a protest in support of Palestine in Tokyo on Saturdaywith the protesters asking the question,“What is worse? The genocide that goes on, or the silence you keep?”

Japanese andforeigners joined in the“Sound Up For Palestine”demonstrationagainst thegenocide in Gazain the youth-oriented district of Shibuyaand a bannerheld up by the protestersfeaturedan animated drawing of drumsticks beating a keffiyeh-patterned drum.

The protestors chanted, “Intifada,Intifada”andraised banners calling for“Free Palestine,”“Israel out from Palestinian land” and “Abolish Israel.”

One demonstrator told Arab News Japan, “I am here to help withthe ‘Sound Up’demofor about thesixthtime, but there are still very few people in Japan who raise their voices against the massacre in Palestine.”

The demonstrator said it wasan opportunity to spread awareness in the city and to unify the feelings among those who are protesting, to work together.

“I think it’s important for people in Japanese society to pay attention to various countries and to consider that we share the planet,”the demonstrator added.
