LONDON: Pakistan is set to host foreign ministers from Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Egypt for talks focused on the ongoing war involving Iran, officials said on Saturday.

Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has invited his counterparts to Islamabad, where meetings are scheduled to take place on Sunday and Monday.

“During the visit, the foreign ministers will hold in-depth discussions on a range of issues, including efforts to de-escalate tensions in the region,” a foreign ministry statement said.

The visiting ministers are also expected to meet Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, according to the statement.

Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty will join counterparts from Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Turkiye for the discussions, Egypt’s foreign ministry confirmed.

A source cited by AFP said the quadrilateral meeting is expected to take place on Monday, with delegations due to arrive in Islamabad by Sunday evening.

Pakistan has increasingly positioned itself as a diplomatic intermediary between Iran and the United States as the conflict continues, leveraging longstanding ties with Tehran and close relations with Gulf states.
