UAE National Olympic Committee to participate in G20 conference

DUBAI: The UAE National Olympic Committee (NOC) will take part in the conference of the NOCs of the G20 Summit, which will be held virtually in Saudi Arabia, according to the organization’s media centre.

The event will be held on Tuesday under the theme “the Olympic Movement during and after the COVID-19 pandemic.”

The conference is held as part of the program of international conferences held on the sidelines of the Saudi Presidency Year 2020 of the G20.

Mohammed Al Mahmoud, Second Vice President of the NOC, and Eng. Azza Bint Suleiman, Member of the NOC’s Executive Office will represent the NOC at the conference.

Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal, Minister of Sports and Chairman of the Saudi NOC, will chair the conference, which will see the participation of the IOC President Dr. Thomas Bach, as Honorary President of the Conference of the NOC’s conference.

The conference will discuss the key opportunities and challenges facing the Olympic and sports sector following the global pandemic COVID-19. It will also shed light on the important role of the Olympic movement in helping the international community to make social, economic and health recovery from the post-COVID effects.

The NOC received an invitation from its Saudi counterpart along with NOCs of countries invited to attend the G20 summit, namely Jordan, Spain, Rwanda, Singapore, Switzerland, and Vietnam as well as representatives of the World Health Organization, international federations, continental Olympic committees, and the NOCs of the G20.
