RIYADH: Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan met with Japan’s Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Ryosei Akazawa in Jeddah on Wednesday for talks focused on strengthening ties and addressing regional developments.
During the meeting, the two ministers reviewed strategic relations between the Kingdom and Japan, exploring ways to enhance cooperation, particularly in the fields of economy and energy resources, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
Discussions also covered the latest developments in the region, including joint efforts related to the situation in the Strait of Hormuz.
Both sides underscored the importance of safeguarding the freedom and security of international waterways to support regional and global stability, SPA added.
They said the smooth flow of energy supplies remains a key priority amid the ongoing conflict.
SPA also reported that Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman received a written message from Japanese Prime Minister TAKAICHI Sanae concerning relations between the two countries.
The message was received by Prince Faisal during his meeting with Akazawa.
