Japan’s MEXT begins scholarship application process for Saudi nationals

DUBAI: The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) of Japan is offering scholarships to distinguished international students who wish to study at Japanese universities.

The Embassy of Japan in Riyadh will accept application for undergraduate students, specialized training college students and research students. Applicants must have a Saudi nationality, those who have other nationality should contact Japanese Embassy in their respective countries.

Those who wish to apply for the scholarship must read the guideline carefully and send all the required documents by email to the Embassy of Japan in Riyadh by May 31.

It is mandatory for applicants to take a Japanese exam in order to be considered for selection. Applicants will also be provided with allowance and plane ticket fare if they pass the exam and screening.

However, if students plan to bring their families along with them, the Government of Japan will not pay for his/her visa, allowance or plane ticket fare.

Exams and interviews for Saudi nationals will be held only at Embassy of Japan in Riyadh. Application forms also have to be sent to Embassy of Japan in Riyadh.

Applications started April 27 and the deadline will be on May 31. The announcement of the application screening result by email/phone will be on June 9.
