Energy Efficiency Seminar was organized by the Saudi Electronics and Home Appliances Institute (SEHAI) in cooperation with the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) on Jan. 28.

The seminar held under the aegis of the Japanese Embassy in Riyadh, in partnership with Saudi Energy Efficiency Center, was also attended by H.E. Hirofumi Miyake, Chargé d'Affaires ad interim Japanese Embassy in Riyadh.

SEHAI Executive Director Ismael Mohammed Mufarreh said that the seminar aimed to address the rationalization of energy consumption and increasing efficiency in the various sectors. Besides energy efficiency, he said trainees of SEHAI will be given comprehensive training in the field energy conservation.

H.E. Hirofumi Miyake also stressed the importance of energy saving and conservation in his speech and mentioned that Japan has been making enormous contribution to the policy making process in Saudi Arabia. In fact, the Japanese government has been working collaboratively with the Kingdom in many areas of energy efficiency, while the Kingdom enacted many important energy efficiency policies for home appliances, namely energy efficiency standards and labeling system.

There were also presentations from SEHAI trainees regarding how energy saving can be realized and their ideas to promote energy efficiency in the Kingdom based on their technical specializations, which is illustrating one of important aims of the seminar that raising awareness of energy efficiency, especially among the young generation, is vital to realize and promote sustainable energy conservation.

SEHAI is a Saudi-Japanese joint institute where creates new technical job opportunities in electronics, office equipment, home appliancesair conditioning, and diesel engine, etc., and the organization is also technically supported by Japanese Experts.
