The Ghibli Museum in the Japanese city of Mitaka announced Sunday that it will be closing temporarily from Feb. 25 until March 17 due to the recent widespread of the novel coronavirus COVID-19, a decision taken in accordance with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government.

According to the museum's website, it will be fully refunding those who purchased tickets for February and March.

The gallery, which showcases works from Japanese animation studio Studio Ghibli, said it apologizes to its visitors and will continue to monitor the situation.

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government issued a decision to cancel or postpone its major indoor events for the next three weeks in order to avoid the further spread of the coronavirus.
