Japanese contemporary artist Murakami Takashi, known for his iconic flower designs, has collaborated with South Korean girl group NewJeans to design the group’s Japanese debut.

The artist transforms the five-member girl group into PowerPuff Girls using his signature character, Kaikai Kiki, in the group’s first Japanese music video, ‘Right Now,’ from the Japanese mini album ‘Supernatural’. The song is co-written by French Algerian singer Lolo Zouai

Additionally, Takashi designed the group’s Japanese merchandise, which includes a cross bag, that comes in five colors, as well as a drawstring bag. The artist also designed the album cover for NewJeans’ mini album.

NewJeans made their highly anticipated Japanese television debut on TV Asahi’s ‘Music Station’ as they performed ‘Supernatural’ as well as their Korean hit single ‘OMG’. The group is expected to appear on various TV stations, such as NHK and TBS.

The South Korean girl group rose to fame in 2022 and made their GCC performance debut in Saudi Arabia in the same year as part of KCON. They will hold their first Japanese concert on June 26 and 27 at Tokyo Dome.

Renowned Japanese group YOASOBI as well as Japanese-British singer Rina Sawayama will make an appearance at the two-day concert.
