DUBAI: A special Japanese film festival was held on Friday, Feb. 21 as part of Ras Al Khaimah Art Festival and it was organized by the Consulate General of Japan in Dubai with the collaboration of both the Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi Foundation for Policy Research and the Japan Foundation.

The Consul-General of Japan in Dubai, IMANISHI Jun, gave an opening speech where he highlighted the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the Consulate-General of Japan in Dubai. He also discussed the growth and development of Ras Al Khaimah city over the years.

This festival featured two Japanese movies: ‘Awake’ (2020) and ‘Nosari no shima’ (2020).

‘Awake’ is a drama about the rivalry in sports games. The movie starts out pretty intriguing, hooking the viewer and making them wonder what will happen. The atmosphere is  dark, and mysterious.

‘Nosari no shima’ follows the story of a young traveling scammer who shows up in Amakusa, Kumamoto Prefecture, to pick up cash from the old woman he has targeted. However, she insists that he is her grandson, so he ends up living with her. Gradually, he starts to feel strangely comfortable
