Sony’s PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 4 Pro consoles have surpassed over 110 million sales, having sold 1.5 million units in 2020 alone.

The numbers are close to the original Game Boy consoles, which sold almost 119 million units. However, it is unlikely the PS4 will overtake PS2 sales, which were over 155 million consoles.

Sony sold 2.6 million consoles at this same time last year, with a fiscal year declines of 4.2 million units.

In the company’s earnings report, Sony said the PS5 was on track to launch in the holiday period this year, denying rumors that the console would be released in October instead.

Sony also reported their fiscal year sales and operating revenue of ¥8.26 trillion yen or about $77 billion US dollars.

The company stated it has 2.7 million more PS Plus users in the March quarter compared to its December quarter. Sony is planning to sell the PS4 consoles at a lower price around the time of the PS5 launch, in order to gain more subscribers to PlayStation Plus and PlayStation Now.
