‘WABI SABI,’ a popular pavilion at Japan Expo Paris in France, has recently launched an online store for fans around the world on July 1.

More than 480,000 Japan enthusiasts have visited the WABI SABI pavilion in the last 10 years. About 700 Japanese artists, craftsmen and companies have been introduced at the pavilion in the last 10 years and 13,000 items of Japanese crafts and goods and art works have been introduced as well.

Among them, the lifestyle goods of a fusion of Japanese tradition and modernity such as fashion accessories and interior goods, which were created on the modern concept using traditional Japanese techniques and materials, were particularly popular.

Previously, ‘WABI SABI’ only made merchandise available for a few days in the year during the Expo in France.

The newly launched online store offers a rich line-up of the excellent Japanese products such as fashion items, Japanese accessories, interior goods, etc. created by top WABI SABI artists and craftsmen.

Aki Yamada, who is in charge of the Middle East projects at Japan Promotion said the alunch of the online store was “in response to the increasing interest in authentic Japanese culture and crafts works and unique products which we have introduced in the exhibition around the world. WABI SABI STORE brings to the people selected items which have been sold a lot in the previous Japan Expo Paris.”

Yamada added that the coronavirus pandemic also made it difficult for travel to France and exhibit the pavilion.

“I hope that we can continue to introduce Japanese culture to the Middle East through this online store,” she said.

The sale area on the online store is available only right now for Japan, France and UAE with possible expansion in the future.
