Line messaging app’s mascots will soon be on screens of all kinds as Netflix has recently announced an animated series based on the Japanese characters.
The Line app is very popular in Japan and other parts of Asia. Line characters such as Brown, Cony, and Sally have their own merchandise store in New York’s Times Square.
According to Netflix, the show, called Line Friends, will be a “non-verbal CG-animated comedy about a diverse set of friends that live in the same town.”

The director of the animation at Netflix, Aram Yacoubian, said that the Line mascots have been a part of many fans’ daily lives as they are available as stickers on the messaging app.
The debut date will be announced soon by Netflix.
Line Friends has been a separate company from the messaging app since 2015.
