TOKYO: Responding to parents’ concern for the safety of their children during the prolonged pandemic, a mobile childcare center is holding activities and workshops, “Moving Art Studio” in a Tokyo park.

Nurseries have tried to create an online environment that is similar to a normal daycare experience, but parents worry about decreased interaction with other children and a lack of play outside.

On May 2, during Japan’s Golden Week holiday, children could choose to make crafts such as photo frames and flowers from the art materials staff had prepared in the mobile truck. Rhythmic dance and childcare consultations were also conducted under a comfortable spring breeze.

Ei Kurihara, manager of the business development department of Poppins Co., Ltd., which holds nurseries in about 320 locations nationwide, said, “This outdoor childcare experiment is suitable for preventing infection and is new content with great possibility. We will keep an eye on it in the future.”

The Mobile Nursely School is being held at “Lala Port Toyosu,” Koto-ku, Tokyo, from May 2 – 7 (10:00-16:00).
