DUBAI: The historic French jewelry brand, Cartier, has been selected by the committee of the Japan association for the 2025 world expo, that will take place in Japan, to present the women’s pavilion.
The brand’s commitment to women empowerment through Cartier women’s initiative and other targeted philanthropic programs is what got it the chance to represent the women’s pavilion in EXPO 2025.
The Japanese government has a specific target to meet at EXPO 2025, which is to contribute to the achievement of the sustainable developmental goals, Cartier’s winning proposal met the objective of the Japanese government hence securing its place in the women’s pavilion in expo.
Cartier’s winning proposal included innovative ideas like the reuse of the building materials that were used to build the Japan pavilion in EXPO 2020 that was designed by YUKO Nagayama.
The Japanese pavilion won gold for its exhibition design in EXPO 2020; YUKO was inspired by expo’s theme of connectivity and attempted to find similarities between the Middle East and Japan through incorporating geometric and arabesque patterns.
YUKO will also be designing the women’s pavilion in EXPO 2025.
Cyrille Vigneror, president and CEO of Cartier said, “we are thrilled to continue our journey to support women empowerment and gender equality across the globe, through meaningful partnerships with the world expos.”
The women’s pavilion name and details associated to it will be announced after the consultation with the Japan association for the 2025 world exposition and the Japanese government.
