TOKYO: The newest Mori Building in Tokyo will open its doors on November 24 and aims to be at the heart of the “new Tokyo” that provides modern facilities – from offices to shops to schools to medical services – in a “green” building in one of the capital’s trendiest districts.
Azabudai Hills follows in the wake of complexes such as Toranomon Hills and the iconic Roppongi Hills that have modernized Tokyo’s skyline.
Mori claims it will “show a new life in the city” and “the way of living in the future,” calling the new building “a world class city inside a city.”
Tenants on the 8.1-hectare site will include luxury brands such as Hermès, Dior, Celine, Bvlgari, Cartier, Berluti and Bottega Veneta. The commercial area covers about 23,000 square meters and about 150 stores will operate on the site.
Azabudai Hills was developed by the Toranomon-Azabudai District Urban Redevelopment Association with Mori Building and Japan Post as participating members. Approximately 2.4 hectares of the site will be covered by greenery.
In addition, a Keio University Preventive Medicine Center willprovide comprehensive medical examinations, while the British School in Tokyo will educate around 700 students from more than 50 countries.
Shingo Tsuji, president of Mori Building, says he believes that such developments will enable Tokyo to reign supreme as a modern, world city.
