RIYADH: Saudi Arabia’s electricity and gas supply sector rose by 21.5 percent in August compared to the same month last year, according to the General Authority of Statistics.
The latest data showed that the Kingdom’s manufacturing activity also reported an annual rise of 4.6 percent in August.
However, the reduction in Saudi Arabia’s oil production to 8 million barrels per day in August 2023 caused an annual decrease in the mining and quarrying activity by 19.3 percent.
Since the relative weights of the mining and quarrying, manufacturing, and electricity and gas supply sectors in the industrial production index are 74.5 percent, 22.6 percent, and 2.9 percent, respectively, their activities reflect heavily in the general IPI.
