Nippon Express completes acquisition of Germany’s Simon Hegele Group

Nippon Express Holdings, Inc. officially acquired Simon Hegele Group, a Germany-based contract logistics provider specializing in healthcare industry services.

The transaction initially agreed upon on Sept. 30 of last year was finalized on Feb. 3.

Headquartered in Karlsruhe, Germany, Simon Hegele offers warehousing, distribution, and installation services across Europe, the USA, South America, Asia and Australia. Its customer base includes major healthcare, industrial and retail clients.

Nippon Express (NX Group) identified healthcare logistics as a key growth area under its “NX Group Business Plan 2028 Dynamic Growth 2.0.”

With this acquisition, NX Group aims to integrate Simon Hegele’s specialized logistics platform with its own global network, enhancing service offerings for healthcare clients worldwide.

“By leveraging Simon Hegele’s strengths, we will enhance our ability to provide high-quality logistics solutions to customers globally,” Nippon Express stated.

Simon Hegele’s parent company, SH HoldCo GmbH, is now fully owned by Nippon Express. In the last audited fiscal year (ending December 2023), Simon Hegele reported consolidated sales of EUR 318 million (JPY 50,938 million) and an EBIT of EUR 3.7 million (JPY 593 million).
