
DUBAI: Japan and Oman’s environmental ministries signed a memorandum of cooperation (MoC) on Wednesday seeking to enhance cooperation in sustainable development and environmental agreements.
The signed deal will also work towards the implementation of multilateral agreements, like the Paris Agreement. According to Oman’s News Agency, the MoC also aims to establish a framework for cooperation between the two countries based on equality, reciprocity and mutual benefits.
Oman’s Chairman of the Environment Authority Dr. Abdullah bin Ali Al Amri and Japan’s Vice-Minister for Global Environmental Affairs Matsuzawa Yutaka signed the agreement, with the Ambassador of Japan to Oman Kiyoshi Serizawa in attendance.
Japan and Oman are expected to conduct training courses, expert visits, research, interactive discussions and the exchange of information in areas of cooperation and joint projects, Oman’s News Agency reported.
