TOKYO: Japan has not received a letter from the United States asking for its best proposals on trade talks, Chief Cabinet Secretary HAYASHI Yoshimasa said on Wednesday.
White House spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt said on Tuesday that the U.S. had asked countries to make their best offers on trade negotiations by Wednesday.
“Our country has not received any such letter yet,” Hayashi told a regular press conference.
“Regarding U.S. tariff measures, negotiations are underway between Japan and the United States. The government will keep on tackling them, doing our utmost and giving them a top priority.”
