TOKYO: MATSUMOTO Hisashi, Japan’s Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs, received a courtesy call from Algerian Ambassador-Designate Toufik Milat on Friday with the two countries looking to boost economic cooperation.

Matsumoto said he was looking at continued discussions to develop bilateral economic ties based on the first meeting of the Japan-Algeria Intergovernmental Joint Economic Committee that took place in May.

According to the Foreign Ministry, Ambassador-Designate Milat also expressed a wish to strengthen bilateral cooperation in various fields, including economic matters.

Both sides agreed to cooperate in advancing Japan-Algeria relations and to continue high-level exchanges between the two countries.
