Japan’s ITOCHU, one of the largest trading companies, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Dubai-based logistics company DP World to strengthen logistics and supply chains in sub-Saharan Africa.
Signed during the Tokyo International Conference on African Development in Tokyo, both companies aim to enhance connectivity across the African market in order to help Japanese businesses grow their presence on the continent, according to the Emirates News Agency (WAM).
Both companies discussed logistics operations, supply chain optimization, and food product distribution during their first discussions.
“We hope that this collaboration will not only lead to further projects between the two parties but also serve as a bridge between Japanese companies seeking to expand into Africa and the African market,” Shinya Ishizuka, CEO of ITOCHU Corporation’s Africa Bloc, said.
