Halal Angels Network, launched to promote halal and ethical investments, are collaborating with Japan’s EDGEof INNOVATION to tap into the Japanese market, and enable increased investment opportunities for Japanese start-ups in the Halal consumer market.

The move to facilitate halal and ethical investments in Japan is welcomed by EDGEof INNOVATION’s founder Taisuke Alex Odajima.

“I believe Japan should more interact with the Muslim world and for that, I feel it is also necessary to get rid of the wrong stereotypes about Islam. The goal is not only exploring business opportunities but build a real connection between the Japanese startup ecosystem and the Muslim communities all around the world.” Odajima said in a statement.

Research conducted by Muhammad Thamrin and Asra Virgianita explores the Halal market in Japan, and outlines the need for Japan to make a breakthrough in the halal industry by providing halal food at restaurants, spaces for prayer, as well as developing halal services and products

Halal Angels Network founder, Tausif Malik, also reiterated the benefits of the partnership asserting that it will contribute to Japan’s start-up initiatives made evident by the launch of The Japan Innovation Bridge and the J-Startups Program by Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry (METI), as well as JETRO’S ongoing support.

Mr. Malik praised Japan’s efforts and emphasized how the country “would be open to working with government authorities, universities, businesses to promote Halal & Ethical startups in Japan and create awareness for exports,” according to an online post.

Halal Angels Network have penetrated the $5 trillion global Halal consumer market—a sector that is expected to amount to $9.71 trillion in 2025 and are continuing to expand their reach following this latest business venture.

EDGEof INNOVATION is also actively involved in supporting start-ups and bringing businesses to Japan.
