TOKYO: Fujifilm Corp. said it is investigating a possible unauthorized access to an in-house server from outside the company.
The Fujifilm Holdings Corp. unit is looking into the extent of damage, including whether any information was stolen.
On Tuesday night, the company recognized the possibility of being hit by a ransomware attack, in which criminal groups hold data hostage by encrypting them and demand money from the target for recovering the data.
Fujifilm shut down some servers and computers for the investigation. The partial network shutdown has been affecting phone calls and emails from customers and delivery operations at some affiliated companies.
