TOKYO: Leading Japanese automaker Toyota Motor Corp. has suspended some operations at two domestic plants since Wednesday, company officials said Thursday.

The partial suspension, which will last up to four days, was caused by difficulty in procuring auto parts from Southeast Asia amid the resurgence of the novel coronavirus, as well as tight logistics conditions in Japan.

Operations have been partially halted at Toyota’s Tahara plant in Aichi Prefecture, central Japan, and the Miyata plant of Toyota Motor Kyushu Inc., a Toyota subsidiary, in the southwestern prefecture of Fukuoka.

The suspension will affect the production of some 3,500 units of the Lexus luxury models, including the NX SUV.
