Sales of imported foreign-brand vehicles in Japan in November fell 5.7 percent from a year before to 23,753 units, down for the second consecutive month, industry data showed Thursday.
The drop came after sales plunged over 20 percent in October, when the consumption tax was raised from 8 percent to 10 percent and Japan was hit by typhoons.
Mercedes-Benz was the top-selling foreign brand, with its sales growing 11.0 percent to 6,051 units, according to the Japan Automobile Importers Association.
Volkswagen ranked second, with sales of 3,761 units, down 14.1 pct. BMW came in third place, with its sales tumbling 18.7 percent to 3,459 units.
