Applications for this year’s Tokyo Financial Award have opened, accepting submissions until Sept 30, with two different subcategories: SDGS, and ESG Investment.

(Tokyo Metropolitan Government)

According to the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, the ESG Investment subcategory, is aimed at “domestic and foreign financial businesses (including FinTech businesses) that practice ESG investment promotion activities consistent with environmental, social, and governance themes.”

Whereas the SDGs subcategory, includes “domestic and foreign businesses (including financial businesses) that practice SDGs management initiatives consistent with the 17 goals of the SDGs.”

There are separate application forms for the two awards, with a list of guidelines that applicants should read before submitting.

“Now, more than ever, ESG investment has become more crucial, garnering attention globally. For the winners, the award offers an opportunity to increase recognition and awareness of their various initiatives amidst this trend,” the Tokyo Metropolitan Government stated.

The Tokyo Financial Award is collaborative effort between the TMG and the national government, private sector, and others, aimed at revitalizing “the financial sector in order to win back Tokyo’s position as the top global financial city in Asia,” according to the Tokyo Financial Award’s official website.

The awards will be presented in Feb. 2023 at a ceremony.
