TOKYO: McDonald’s Co. (Japan) said Monday that it will raise the prices of about 60 pct of its menu items by 10 to 30 yen on Friday.

The price increases, which will come after the company raised its menu prices only in March this year, are due to soaring ingredient prices, labor costs and energy prices as well as the rapid weakening of the yen.

The price will be raised to 150 yen from the current 130 yen for the Hamburger, to 410 yen from 390 yen for the Big Mac and to 220 yen from 200 yen for the Egg McMuffin. The prices of its french fries will go up by 10 yen for all three sizes.

The company will not change the prices of Chicken McNuggets. Also, customers can create a set meal that includes a side and a medium-size drink by paying 300 yen, the same as at present, on top of the burger price.
