The United Arab Emirates and Japan on Tuesday signed a memorandum of understanding to explore collaboration in green hydrogen and renewable energy in markets of mutual interest.

This contributes to strengthening operational collaboration in decarbonization and ensures the maintenance of a stable supply of energy.

The memorandum was signed by UAE Minister of Energy and Infrastructure Suhail Mohamed Al Mazrouei and Japan’s Minister of Economy, Trade, and Industry Yasutoshi Nishimura.

The UAE, a major OPEC oil exporter, will be the second Arab state to host the climate conference after Egypt and Al Mazrouei confirmed the cooperation between Japan, the G7 presidency, the UAE and the COP28 presidency, Nishimura said in a tweet.

“Through the stabilization of the crude oil market, dialogues between oil-producing and consuming countries, and cooperation in advanced technology fields including startups, we will raise bilateral relations to the next level,” Nishimura added.
