DUBAI: Japanese car manufacturer, Toyota, announced its plans to create a new electric vehicle unique to Toyota and Lexus in the year 2026.

SATO Koji, the new CEO of Toyota said that the company has only one fully electric car; the Bz4X SUV, and now its time to accelerate their plans and move towards Battery Electric vehicle (BEV) development under the Lexus brand.

Toyota said in an announcement the strategy to attract more customers to move towards the battery electric vehicles is to drastically change the way to do business; from the way they run their manufacturing process to their sales approach.

SATO also mentioned that Toyota will focus on intelligence in future models to enhance fuel efficiency, quality of driving, and overall safety.

The new plan will act as a firm pillar for the future of the company under the transformation that will be under the Lexus brand.

With this shift in manufacturing to BEV, Toyota is very likely to conquer the market and might “even catch up with the leaders in the field like Tesla in a few years,” according to automotive industry analyst, Sandy Munro.
