ABU DHABI: Japan’s International Cooperation Center (JICE) organized an internship program event on August 9th in Abu Dhabi for Emirati students to share their experience completing summer internships at Japanese companies and universities.

The event was hosted to celebrate those who completed their internships and share their experiences with others. It was attended by Akio Isomata, Ambassador of Japan to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and representatives of Japanese companies where Emirati students finished their summer internship program.

Tokuya Kanamori, the Managing Director at JICE, said exclusively to Arab News Japan regarding the event: “We are very pleased to be able to resume the face-to-face internship program this year. During his recent visit to the UAE, Prime Minister Kishida expressed his belief that Japan continues to work with the UAE to further promote the acceptance of young Emirati nationals in internship programs offered by Japanese companies.

“Based on the success this year, JICE hopes to make further progress next year and beyond,” he added.

Sponsored and entrusted by the Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry of Japan, JICE has been committed to providing internship programs for Emirati university students at Japanese companies or universities since 2012.

They announced recently that 13 Emirati students have successfully completed their summer internship program, which was exclusively designed to foster the development of promising Emirati talent.

The 8-week internship programs not only provided participants with work experience and research opportunities at Japan’s cutting-edge technological companies but also cultural immersion in both Japanese society and corporate environments.
