DUBAI: An extremely covert data collection and exfiltration device, the O.MG cable is scarily stealthy attacker tool.

The cable looks like an ordinary USB charging cable with no remarkable aspects.

This ordinary looking cable is designed to snoop on the data that passes through it and sends commands to the device its connected to.

The cable is implanted with a web server, wi-fi access, and USB communications, making it capable of bidirectional communications over the internet, such as listening for incoming commands from a control server and sending data from whatever device it’s connected to back to the attacker.

The cable can also perform keystroke injection attacks, which tricks the target device into believing it’s a keyboard and the typing in text commands.

The cable records every keystroke that passes through it and can save up to 65,000 key entries in its onboard storage for retrieval.

The most deceiving part is that the O.MG cable looks like an exact replica of a normal harmless USB charger, minor differences in appearances to exist, but overall it looks like a very unremarkable charging cable.
