ABU DHABI: The Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition Conference (ADIPEC) commenced on Oct. 2, giving Japanese companies the opportunity to showcase their work to the Middle East.

On opening day, the Japanese Pavilion received the Japanese State Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry IWATA Kazuchika.

The Japanese Pavilion at ADIPEC, hosted by ADNOC, included Japan Organization for Metals and Energy Security (JOGMEC), Japan Oil Development Co.,Ltd. (INPEX/JODCO) and ENEOS as exhibitors, showcasing projects in Japan, the Middle East and around the world.

Other Japanese companies included E-Plus Ltd, Homura Heavy Industries Corporation and Mitsui & Co., Ltd.

A representative at INPEX, Taisei Matsuoka, said that it was the Japanese company’s 50th anniversary of involvement in the development and production of oil fields in Abu Dhabi. The booth even gave out memorabilia commemorating the occasion to visitors.

“We are working with the Middle East, and specifically Abu Dhabi, on hydrogen and ammonia projects with potential expansion into other parts of the region,” he told Arab News Japan.

The Japanese companies each presented their sustainable projects and missions, in line with the upcoming COP28 conference in Dubai.

ADIPEC provided a platform for companies to discuss how to align on the lower-carbon, high-growth future of energy.

The exhibition featured 2,200 global companies across 16 halls and 30 different country pavilions.
