The UAE national jiu-jitsu team for adults began its journey in the 8th Asian Championship by achieving a distinguished tally of medals on the first day of the tournament in Abu Dhabi.

The male and female national team players dominated the matches and succeeded in topping the podium, winning 3 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze medals.

The UAE national team began its journey to preserve the title with jiu-jitsu competitions with bouts in the 56 and 77 kg categories for men, and 45 kg, 48 kg and 52 kg for women.

Balqis Al Hashemi, weighing 45 kg, Asma Al Hosani, weighing 52 kg, and Omar Al Suwaidi, weighing 56 kg, won the gold medals, while the silver medal was won by Hamda Al Shukaili, weighing 48 kg, and Hessa Al Shamsi, weighing 52 kg, and the bronze medal was won by Aisha Al Shamsi, weighing 45 kg. Dhiab Al Nuaimi weighs 56 kg.

Mohammed Salem Al Dhaheri, Vice President of the Emirates Jiu-Jitsu Federation, praised the performance of the male and female national team players on the first day of the tournament, and their success in winning a number of colorful medals, pointing out that this success reflects their readiness to participate in the competitions and their ambition to maintain the title, despite the strength of competition and participation.

Stars and heroes from more than 30 countries including Afghanistan, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Chinese Taipe, India, Indonesia, Iraq, Iran, Japan, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Laos, Lebanon, Malaysia, Mongolia, Pakistan, Palestine, the Philippines, and South Korea. Additionally, Saudi Arabia, Sri Lanka, Syria, Tajikistan, Thailand, Uzbekistan, Vietnam, Yemen, and the host country, the UAE.

The UAE national team aims to claim the championship title for the fourth consecutive year, following victories in Abu Dhabi (2021), Manama (2022), and Bangkok (2023). In the 5th edition of the championship hosted by Abu Dhabi, the team secured 18 medals, including 4 gold, 4 silver, and 10 bronze.
