ABU DHABI: Japan’s International Cooperation Center (JICE) organized an event to celebrate Emirati students who completed summer internships at Japanese companies and share their experiences with others on August 14th in Abu Dhabi.

It was attended by members of the Embassy of Japan in the UAE and representatives of Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) and Japanese companies such as Komatsu Middle East FZE and Yokogawa UAE Industry, Sole Proprietorship L.L.C., as well as the host organizations, where they celebrated the students’ achievements and their potential contributions to the UAE’s strategic sectors.

Moza Alzaabi, an ADNOC scholarship student from Khalifa University of Science and Technology, shared her enriching experience at Yokogawa UAE Industry, emphasizing the practical application of her studies in industrial systems engineering. “This internship has bridged my academic knowledge with practical industry applications, offering a firsthand glimpse into the technologies shaping our future,” she remarked.

Ahmed Basahel, a senior mechanical engineering student from Khalifa University of Science and Technology, also shared his transformative experience at Ebara Corporation, where he was honored as their first international intern. “The internship was an extraordinary journey that provided deep insights into both the technical and cultural aspects of a leading Japanese company,” he stated.

Tokuya Kanamori, the Managing Director at JICE, said exclusively to Arab News Japan regarding the event: “We are proud to see the UAE’s brightest students enhance their technical and intercultural skills through this program. We anticipate that their new knowledge will contribute significantly to the UAE’s development and look forward to continuing our efforts to strengthen ties between our nations.”

Sponsored and entrusted by the Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry of Japan, JICE has been committed to providing internship programs for Emirati university students at Japanese companies or universities since 2012.

The 8-week internship programs not only provided participants with work experience and research opportunities at Japan’s cutting-edge technological companies but also cultural immersion in both Japanese society and corporate environments.
