Nike Japan release a cherry-blossom designed Air Max 95 in celebration of a Japanese tradition called 'Hanami', which is defined as the act of ‘flower viewing’.

During Hamami, people acknowledge the coming of spring by watching sakura trees blossom, and in homage to the tradition, the latest Air Max 95has been designed to mimic the transient beauty of flowers.

The Air Max 95 has a bold “Premium Black/Racer Pink” colorway surrounding the outline, enlivened by different shades of pink covering the entire sneaker’s exterior, which is blended with different graphic patterns.

The Nike “Air Max” logo appears in a silver glitter patch stamped at the top of the shoe, in a black breathable mesh tongue.

Covering the central forefoot are round black laces, attached to a semi-translucent overlay through which vivid pink graphics of cherry blossoms appear.

Over the central inner panel, renderings of sakura trees gleam in different colors and patterns, which collectively blend to give a pixelated effect.

Pixelating the traditional graphic of the sakura trees, and adding vivacious colors within the design, serves a twofold effect, which on one hand, embraces tradition, and on the other, provides a futuristic outlook.

The collection also features jackets, T-shirts and shorts, which are all made to accompany the shoes and follow the same motif.

Every piece of the small collection comes with holographic pink Nike branding, presented by abroad swoosh, and complemented by “TYO” lettering to denote the Japan-exclusive capsule.

The Nike Air Max 95 “Premium Black/Racer Pink” sneakers and accompanying apparel are available at atmos’ website.
