DUBAI: Japanese billionaire Yusaku Maezawa commissioned an unexpected collaboration between French fashion brand Hermès and British luxury carmaker Rolls Royce.
The Rolls-Royce Bespoke Phantom Oribe has been meticulously hand-crafted by both Rolls-Royce and Hermès inside-and-out, using materials, techniques, and intelligence from both brands’ ateliers.
Maezawa’s recently commissioned private jet also struck some inspiration in the making of the luxurious automobile, making it his “land jet.” While his private collection of ancient Japanese ceramics inspired the color scheme of the car.
The two-tone “MZ Oribe Green” and “Cream” scheme is a one-off commission, but Rolls Royce also offered to replicate it on the billionaire’s private jet.
For the car’s interior, Hermès wrapped almost everything in its “Enea Green” leather, including the steering wheel, duchess handles, gear selector and even the climate control setting buttons.
The leather is also wrapped around lesser-seen parts of the interior, such as the inside of the glovebox, the luggage compartment and the champagne cooler.
Hermès also added other luxury elements like piping around the headrest cushions and calf supports on the rear seats, and adding “Seashell White” accents and lambswool floor mats.
