Japanese company, Kewpie, are achieving their mission of contributing “to the food culture and health of the world,” according to their website, by creating a plant-based scrambled egg option called HOBOTAMA.
The product is made using soybeans and is suitable for vegan customers looking for an alternative to eggs– the product will be released on June 30.
Kewpie’s special HOBOTAMA website highlights a few recipes that customers can try including a plant-based burger, a morning veggie plate as well as an egg sandwich.

The scrambled eggs come in a clear bag, allowing customers to get a good look at the yellow mixture inside that can be used to complement various recipes and dishes.
Aside from their latest invention, Kewpie are renowned for their Kewpie mayonnaise, popular since 1925. The mayonnaise contains 4 egg yolks per 500g that contribute to the condiment’s unique flavour.
Kewpie asserts that they create “products with the utmost care in pursuit of great taste and good health. Our strengths lie in the originality and ingenuity with which we strive to pursue our passion, and a dedication that has helped our business to grow,” their official website states.
Kewpie also produces other items including a range of dressings, baby food, and pasta sauce.
