TOKYO: Major Japanese mobile phone carriers Friday started accepting preorders for Apple Inc.’s newest smartphone model, iPhone 13, ahead of its Sept. 24 launch in the country.
NTT Docomo Inc. will sell the cheapest 128-gigabyte version for 34,232 yen on condition that a buyer returns the handset two years later. The company will offer a further discount for an earlier return of the phone and purchasing by customers younger than 31 years old.
KDDI Corp. set the same version’s price higher than NTT Docomo, at 40,100 yen, as the provider of “au” mobile phone services scrapped a discount plan assuming replacement.
SoftBank Corp. will sell the 128-gigabyte iPhone 13 for 57,960 yen at the lowest, although it maintains requirements for handset return and replacement purchase.
