Japanese restaurant Yakitate has opened its doors in Dubai, United Arab Emirates with a menu that includes a variety of cakes, pastries and food to offer customers a unique Japanese café experience.

Speaking to Arab News Japan, Ahmed Mirza, the owner Yakitate shares the resteraunt was establishment and the challenges faced in the process.

“Yakitate been established with the first branch in Dubai UAE in 2015. Then expanded with the second branch in 2018.  The main concept is freshly baked breads and pastries which is derived the name Yakitate along with fusion Japanese food created and developed by our Japanese head chef,” Mirza said.

“The main challenge was how to introduce Japanese food concept in the Middle East but due to the diversity of the people living and visiting to Dubai we have succeeded, and the concept became very popular and likable to everyone,” Mirza added.

Since it’s inception, the restaurant has received positive feedback from the public, which is made apparent in the rating scores throughout all of Yakitate’s social media platforms.

Aspects that distinguish Yakitate from other Japanese restaurants, include its wide selection of different items on the menu, which are more reasonably priced than in other Japanese restaurants

“There are many reasons that makes Yakitate different than other Japanese restaurants & cafes, basically we have a wide variety of food, beverages and pastries which are rarely to find in other restaurants as well as the affordable price of all our products even though using high standard of ingredients,” Mirza said.

In the near future, Mirza said that Yakitate plans on expanding the number of branches present throughout the country, with hopes that some would be complete by the beginning of 2022.

Offering a piece of advice to those interested in learning how to make Japanese food or desserts, Mirza said: “To open Japanese restaurant is a challenge, but first of all you need to have the passion of the Japanese culture especially the Japanese food culture considered as one of the top qualities of food in the world.”
