TOKYO: Kushari, a traditional Egyptian dish, has recently become available in Japan as instant food in a paper cup.
In eastern Tokyo, a small restaurant, “Corpy,” started offering Instant Egyptian Kushari. Rice is mixed with macaroni and lentils, sprinkled with spicy tomato sauce, garlic and vinegar, and topped with chickpeas and crispy fried onions.
The manager told Arab News Japan his Kushari restaurant attracts fast food lovers on the go. The restaurant is located on the second floor of the building near the lively Kinshicho Station. It also provides an Egyptian ambiance, including music.
Instant Kushari followed the famous Japanese brand of Cup Noodles’, an instant single-serving packaged in plastic or paper cups and are prepared by adding boiling water.
The shop gained popularity after tweeting about the product on Feb. 3, describing how to enjoy the dish, saying: “We will tell you an easy way to make it even more delicious. Appropriately mix lemon juice, vinegar and garlic to complete the dish! The junky feeling is super boosted and it won’t stop! In addition, it will be a complete victory with a Coke”
