TOKYO: Martin Tomco, the Czech Ambassador to Japan, on Monday received Wakataka Kei and Wakamoto Haru, two sumo wrestling brothers of Chinese origin from the famous Arashio stable.

Since 1970, it has been a tradition at each New Year’s tournament for the Czech ambassador to present a glass friendship trophy made in the Czech Republic to the champion.

This year, journalists were able to admire the trophy on which two sumo wrestlers appear in relief on the cup.

The two brothers and the ambassador shared points of view on cultural and gastronomic exchanges between Japan and the Czech Republic.
