


TOKYO: The 18th Arab Charity Bazaar organized by the Spouses of Ambassadors and Heads of Missions of Arab embassies was held in Tokyo on Saturday.
The event allows guests to experience Arabic culture, music, food, handicrafts, folklore performances, calligraphy and henna.
Proceeds from various sales at the event are donated to Japanese and Arab Charitable Organizations, including the Al-Ishrag House, Dar-Al Hanan Al Hanan Center for Special Needs, Dar-Al Mygoma for Orphans and the Islamic Center.
In her opening remarks, the wife of the Tunisian ambassador, Houda Elloumi, SWAAJ President, thanked the Council of Arab Ambassadors and Heads of Missions in Tokyo for their support.
“We truly value the significant contribution in reinforcing cultural exchange and deepening friendship between Japan and Arab countries, the primary objective of our association, SWAAJ.
This year holds special significance as we celebrate the 25th anniversary of the establishment of SWAAJ,” she said.
“We have organized this Bazaar to further promote the rich and diverse heritage of Arab culture for the noble cause of this event, which is raising funds for Japanese and Arab charitable organizations.”
Princess Takamado attended the event and hailed in her remarks the efforts by Arab Ambassadors and their Spouses to carry on the tradition of holding the bazar which makes Arab culture more visible and represents such an “important opportunity for Japanese people to come and enjoy Arabic goods, atmosphere and culture.”
About a thousand and five hundred visitors attended the event, including the Spouses of Japan’s Foreign Minister HAYASHI Yoshimasa and Digital Transformation Minister KONO Taro.
