TOKYO: An incubator for creators and citizens of Tokyo was unveiled on Thursday in the Shibuya district of Tokyo. The Civic Creative Base Tokyo (CCBT) covers several hundred square meters and includes a large open space and a technological laboratory.

OGAWA Hideaki, who is also the co-director of Ars Electronica in Linz, Austria, is bringing his creative skills to this new venture, which will mix Artificial Intelligence in an ambitious artistic project.

To set the tone for the project, Ogawa referenced his drone swarm artwork created in the Austrian skies in 2012, a project that was developed with a private electronics component partner.

The incubator will revolve around a project where artists will be in residence and will share their project with citizens around Workshop, a presentation of works designed to reflect the urban transformation of the capital in the era of artificial intelligence. Ogawa sees this as civic creativity.

The project itself will not only promote the work of artists, but will also integrate designers and fashion designers.
