TOKYO: Japan has agreed to extend Emergency Grant Aid amounting to $3 million to help the recovery in eastern Libya following extensive damage caused by floods that struck the area on Sept. 10 and 11.
Japan will deliver the Emergency Grant Aid through the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF). IOM will disburse $2 million and UNICEF $1 million.
The aid will be utilized in the areas of health, shelter, NFIs (non-food items), WASH (water, sanitation, and hygiene) and child protection.
The government of Japan says it stands by the people of Libya and is ready to consider further necessary assistance in response to needs on the ground.
