
On Tuesday, Japanese Foreign Minister Kamikawa Yoko held a telephone conversation with her Egyptian counterpart, Sameh Shoukry, where she praised Egypt’s efforts regarding departing Japanese nationals from the Gaza Strip and discussed the G7’s stance regarding the ongoing conflict.
Currently visiting San Francisco, Kamikawa explained to Shoukry the discussion she had with the G7 Foreign Ministers last week in Tokyo, sharing that they agreed on the importance of taking emergency action regarding the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip, especially regarding humanitarian assistance, pauses, and corridors.
Additionally, she shared that the G7 Foreign Ministers agreed that the two-state solution is the only solution that will result in lasting and secure peace and that the ministers issued the statement as a unified message.
The Japanese Foreign Minister thanked her counterpart for Egypt’s efforts regarding delivering humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip as well as safely departing Japanese nationals and their families.
Kamikawa also stressed the importance of deescalating the situation as soon as possible as well as taking all the necessary measures to prevent harming civilians in military operations. On the other hand, Shoukry explained Egypt’s current diplomatic efforts regarding the current conflict.
The two ministers agreed to work closely together to improve the overall humanitarian situation.
